Sustainable Transportation and Land Use Integration Study

Sustainable Transportation and Land Use Integration StudyWhat is sustainable transportation and how does it fit into the MAG region’s future? How can transit investments increase the region’s economic competitiveness? What kinds of transportation investments can support the creation of sustainable neighborhoods and business districts? These are some of the questions the MAG Sustainable Transportation and Land Use Integration Study addressed.

The study began in November 2010 and concluded in early 2013. The effort created a Sustainable Transportation and Land Use Integration Strategy and a toolbox that MAG member agencies can use to gain an understanding of what land use strategies connect with the different levels of transit service, which can spur transit-oriented development and increase travel options.

ULI Arizona and the Maricopa Association of Governments conducted two open forums to discuss implications of today's transportation investment decisions for the long-term competitiveness and quality of life in Metropolitan Phoenix.
